    Turning Firewood?

Every time I heard someone say they "made firewood" when making a mistake at the lathe, I wondered if we could reverse that process and make good projects from firewood. I decided to give it a try.

        Outstanding work.

I also scrounge my deliveries of firewood. Often finding some nice pieces of spalted maple in this part of the country. Along with other interesting looking woods that I couldn't identify.

And an added bonus, if the project doesn't work out you still have firewood.

Great work! I'll think of you as I burn up the cord or so of box elder and spalted birch in my woodpile.

Don't worry, I'll set aside some for turning...

My preference in my locale is maple. The firewood guys apologize for the burly twisted pieces but I look at them as wood porn for woodturners. I can usually get some nice burls and splated pieces from it.

                Great job Tom.
