    Burn wire and spools

I finally figured out that the wire used to "burn" rings into turnings is basically any metal with low-heat conductivity. I came across some tungsten wire, and made these, uhhh, spools as a way to hold onto the wire, and to store it without getting all tangled:

You can see some burn rings on the spools themselves. (Ahhh, but how did he hold the wire before he made the spool?! [)])

    Tom

Much prettier than the copper wire with off-cuts twisted at the ends I use!

        Thanks, guys!

I could have sworn I tried copper wire, and failed to get it to burn. So I assumed the wire type was more important than it really is.

My setup is usually more like the ones you two mention -- I obviously had a little too much time on my hands one evening! [)]
