I went to Woodcraft today to decide which lathe I was going to buy. The Jet 1442 or the Jet 1642 and while I was there I was looking at this Lathe and I talked to the owner about it and he said he would sell it to me with a stand for $100.00 more than the Jet 1642 which is on sale until Monday. He plugged it up and ran it for me and this lathe is nice. Does anyone have this lathe and if so how do you like it? Thanks

I have not worked with either lathe, though I did hear good things about the DVR3000. The technology is certainly quite interesting, and it would be the one I'd consider (just a gut feeling).
I remember there were some discussions about it on "The Turning Post" some time ago.

I had decided on the Jet Ken and was going last Monday to order it as they weren't in stock and then the worst thing happened. Property tax notice came and I have got to pay them first. So I guess it will be after the holidays unless something great happens.quote:Originally posted by Ken Massingale
So, did you get the DVR, Ken?

The reason I decided on the Jet was talking to people that had bought one they were very happy with it. I couldn't find anyone that had bought the DVR but Paul at Woodcraft did say John was buying one.Comment

If you can get ahold of Dick Parr, he has the DVR and seems to really like it. He is a member here but doesn't post often. You can probably find him over at "Sawmill"Comment

I understand, Ken. Just got ours a bit ago too.
Well, anticipation is supposed to be a good thing! Me, patience isn't one of my 2 virtues. ;D
It'll be all the better when you do get it.

This is the first year that my property tax wasn't included in my mortgage payment. When I paid the first half I discovered that I qualified for the Old Mans discount and saved $1,100.00 a year.Comment
