i do believe this will be the first post ive made in quite a while with something i've actually Made, hah!
anyhow, i always wanted to make a wine glass/goblet whatever, funny thing is i'd forgotten all about them till the other night.
a coworker asked me to make a mallet fro a leathersmith friend who makes custom motorcycle seats. i guess he expected to see soemthing like a judges gavel style, but i brought in a heavy-duty chesnut "tapered carving mallet" 1-piece type, which she thougth looked too nice to beat things with and more like a grail or goblet at king arthurs round table lol...
anyhow it reminded me that i wanted to make one of those wine goblets id seen. so this is my first attempt
this pecan stuff is really nice to turn, its quite plain, almost a pure cream color, quite hard(i have a mallet of this too!)
Q: i used 4 coats of raw tung oil to finish, hoping it would seal it so it could hold fruity intoxicating liquids, any chance?i suppose it would stain!.
oh yea, thats my one and only pen i made too for scale reference heh'.
