    Initial impressions of the H6265 chuck

    UPS delivered my new chuck today and I must say I'm impressed! It is supposed to be a clone of the Vicmarc VM100. Well,,,,,,it is. Setting side by side with my Vicmarc it is hard to see any difference. The jaws are interchangeable between the two chucks. Runout is nill/none. Fit and finish is superb. The only differences are the Vic has stamped numbers on the jaws and the Griz has etched. The back plate on the Vic is a matte finish and uses 2 allen head screws and the Griz is finish machined and uses 2 philips screws. I am so impressed with this chuck that I just ordered another and 2 sets of 4" jaws. At $89.95 I do not think you can get a better chuck for the price. The only bad thing about this chuck is getting the packing grease off of it.

    Jim,

    Thanks for the review. That's what I've been waiting for. Money is tight for me these days since I'm back in college, so I can't take a risk to be the guinea pig. Your review tells me it's what I'm looking for.

      Thanks for posting. It sounds like worth trying. FYI, the cosmoline crap they put on import tools is easier to clean off in warmer temps. I would put the chuck in a low temp oven (under degrees) or leave it it the box in a hot car and clean it off with DW40 while it's warm. In colder weather that stuff is like putty. Yuk!

        I'm curious how this chuck compares to the new Barracuda 2 from PSI?

          Vicmarc=Cadillac. $154.95 vs $89.95. PSI's accessory jaws are even $7 more a set. Almost a no-brainer
