    I'm on a stopper kick

Here is a Cocobolo stopper that I turned after work today. I have found that a little shop time is just what it takes to unwind after a commute on the freeway.

I agree, nothing like a bit of shop time, especially when you end up having something nice to show for it too!

I'm starting to worry about you, that is a lot of stoppers. I hope you are not using all of them[]

Wow. Another great stopper Dick. Are you using a kit - or do you pull together the bits from scratch?

No kit is involved for these stoppers.
I simply cut a blank to the size I want, drill a 1/2" hole in the end and glue in a piece of 1/2" dowel. I turn it by using my Nova midi chuck and after it is finished I cut the dowel to length and slip on the silicone stopper.

The first few I made I glued the silicone stopper to the dowel. I have found that glue is not needed and this way the stopper can be replaced if necessary.

Hmmm... I have found the exact opposite to be true. I started off not gluing the silicone stopper to the dowel. Then a co-worker, whom I sold a silicone stopper to, complained that it kept coming of when pulling the stopper out of a bottle. I realized the same thing when testing it at home. Now, all my silicone stoppers get glued on the dowel.
