    Cherry Bowl

    Here is a cherry Bowl 9"x 2 1/2" Finish is Watco and buffed on the Beall.
    I'm New here and I forgot to mention That all my Bowls have been dried exclusively with Dave Smiths DNA (Denatured alcohol) Method!

      Real nice, Jim. No tool or sanding marks visable at all. I will read that link, it sounds interesting. Your finish is beautiful, kind of a natural glow without being 'shiney'.

          Great looking bowl, the finish IS very nice.

          I read the article you provided the link too. It SEEMS pretty straight forward. Care to comment on what aspects of this process you do differently?

                  Here are a few thing I do Diff!
                  I soak My bowls for at least 24hrs for bowls with rim thickness up to 3/4", And longer if its 3/4" and up. after the soak take it out I have a strainer I use to place my bowls on to let them drip back into the bucket. After the alky flashes off I wrap the bowl as he does with old brown paper bags(just the outside of the bowl and rim)and hold it on with masking tape. I let it dry for 2 weeks coverd with the bag then one week off before finish turning.
                  some tips:
                  I use a 5 gal bucket with rubber gasket in lid to soak my turnings in.
                  I try to keep it compleatly submerged I use some corian scraps to weigh it down.
                  If I need a larger container I use a tub with shavings in the bottom to conform to the bowl(this saves how much DNA it takes to cover the bowl) and use a heavy plastic bag, put the bowl in the bag then fill with DNA enough to cover the bowl and twist it up to seal it off.
                  The DNA method also works great for fresh cut green pen blanks too.

                      Jim, is this a new bowl or have I seen it before? It looks really great and with a nice shine to it.

                      I too use the DNA method,,, from tree to table in a month.
