    Is this worth $175 ?

In my old age I look back and realize how lucky I was to live in a time when common sense was common.

I think it depends on the bits.

Wood River has a mortiser that sells for about $300 (with bits)

Grizzly has a unit with bits for $250 (great buy, in my opinion)

Harbor Freight sells a unit for $189 - but without bits.

I think Steel City machines go for about $400 new ---- so the price sounds fairly reasonable.

Guess I'd just make sure the bits look good.

Fair price but the bits are about the same as what comes with the other brands.

I got the Craftsman version of it a couple of years ago on closeout for about $150. I compared my manual to the Steel City manual at the time, and the machines and instructions appeared identical. It's a pretty good little machine, in my opinion. Maybe offer $150 and see what the seller says.

I have the Craftsman as well. OK machine, not fantastic (some features I would have liked missing).

Just a note, Steel City is no longer in business as of Tuesday.

According to industry insiders, power tool manufacturer Steel City Tool Works has closed its doors and sold its remaining inventory to a Canadian firm.
