I have several different things, depending on the job, as I haven't found one size fits all. I have an older Workmate (also think it might be a 225) from sometime around the early 80's (heavier then the newer ones and more like the 425), and to handplane with it, you still need to put something like sandbags on the base.
Adjustable height, metal, folding sawhorses, for whatever use up to light duty scaffolding.
Eurekazone's Smart table, which is my most used, with power tools. I am one of the early ones who tried this on one of those hollow folding tables (twice, different methods), and your better off buying the $20 legs from Blowes or HD, as they are sturdier.
What I would like to make, is a combination Blum Bench horse and Smart table, hybrid. A Workmate seems to act as a fulcrum on long pieces (hence the sandbag need), and the EZ doesn't have a good vise method for hand tools. The Blum bench horse, doesn't seem particularly suited for work outside, so MDO would be preferred, I think.
