    Irwin Marples Dado Blade

    Good Mornin,

I am interested in the Irwin Marples dado blade http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?s...LER&page=31772 . It is currently 99.00 at Lowes. Does anyone have any experience with these? I compared it to the Freud 208 and it seems to have larger teeth and looks like a well built blade.

I seen the post for the Delta set at Grizzly but I kind of need a set quick. I have a 6 in Skill but it is pretty good at burning the material. You get what you pay for.

I would appreciate your thoughts or experience.

Lowes sells them as well, check your store online to see if they have it, or call and then order it online for p/u and use this code(possibly) for 10% off , 470004585723250 , http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?...llow&cId=PDIO1

I played the guiney pig and bought one.

I honestly have very little experience with dado blades. I know the Skil that I have makes a groove and the bottom of the groove is serviceable and the edges of that groove are burnt but that is the extent of my experience with dado blades. I usually use a router.

That said I set this blade up with the proper pieces to cut a 3/8 dado according to the directions. Took a piece of red oak 7x7 and cut 7 3/8 dados on each side 7/16 deep. Nice crisp edges, flat bottoms, no burnt edges and a 3/8 drill bit fits snug in the slots.

I guess the next test will be how long it holds an edge. So far not bad for the money and a store right down the street that carries them. I think I might try a 50 tooth combo blade sometime.

Thanks Tommy. Too bad I missed this before I bought the blade.
