    Ryobi Battery Problem

A Ryobi 18v Lithium+ battery I bought the other day was defective, at least according to the Ryobi charger. I took it back and got a replacement - - but the replacement also comes up as defective. Typically, I get what appears to be a normal charge, but when it approaches full charge, the defective signal appears. Also, the 'defective' battery shows only 8 volts, instead of 18. I am using the correct charger for these batteries.

Other Ryobi lithium (not Lithium+) and NiCad batteries in the OnePlus series charge normally (on the same charger) and put out 18v when fully charged.

Anyone have similar experience with Ryobi batteries or know what might be goining on. I think its quite unusual to get two defective batteries in a row.

    Regards, Steve.

I've had a Li-Ion 18v One+ battery show as defective on the charger before as well, thought it was done. Left it plugged in overnight and the next morning it was functioning as normal and haven't had a problem since.

    Which charger do you have?

I am using a P113 Charger; the defective battery is a P107. I also have P104, P103, and P100 (NiCad) batteries and they all accept charges and show 18 volts when charged.

Those P107 are brand spanking new, haven't seen them yet. Perhaps 1.0 manufacturing issues?

This is probably not it but I was surprised by the new charger and lithim batteries my son bought me for my birthday this week. I left a battery in the charger while I ran errands and it was not charged at all. THen I pushed on the battery and it snapped into the charger and charged up fine. My other chargers and batteries (all Ryobi) do not work this way.
