I gave Eeyore a tail today

As some of you may know, I have a mid-90s Craftsman jointer that hasn't had any dust collection. I remembered to stop by Rockler after work on Wednesday (where I learned I got promoted, go me) to pick up a jointer hood, some 4" duct, a reducer and a rubber connector.

I used some of that super annoying (and sticky) carpet tape I had to attach it to the underside of the stand above the motor, and had just enough room to squeeze the duct in there. Looks like it has a little tail, which caused me to come up with the nickname Eeyore (it's also grey and a bit difficult to shove around).

I need to grab a link belt from HF and lower the motor a bit so I have more clearance, but it seems to work for now. I'll attempt to make a new side panel with a port to give it a bit more professional look later.

Looks very functional. That reduce hooks up to a shopvac? How's the pull through the 4in line?

Not entirely sure. I only tested it real quick for function. The 2.5" vac hose does pretty well even when hooked up to the planer. For this, my goal was just to direct the debris down the 4" duct to the reducer where I know the vac would have plenty of pull. I'll have to run a 2x4 through it to see what it can really do.

There's a bit of a kink in the duct where it has to conform to the motor, when I lower it that should help too. The 4" duct is only a foot long, and it might get trimmed slightly shorter when I make the side panel.
