    Free Amazon money

For me, sorry. Got a couple of gift cards for Father's Day and I'm not specific yet as to what to get. Wanted to spend it on hand tools.

I don't know of a way to turn this into LN gift cards, so I want to get something other than chisels or saws. I was thinking about getting a marking knife and a scraper or a shavehook. Cabinet scrapers are an option as well. A Felo wood screwdriver set would look nice in my hand tool cabinet.

Any other suggestions? Smaller items, as I didn't get a bunch of money. I don't have a lot of hand tools at all, so anything suggested might be a good one.

Amazon carries hock Irons & chipbreakers. The Shop Fox mallets are available.

    Reading is always nice too.

    The Perfect Edge
Lee's The Complete Guide to Sharpening

    Anything by the Schwarz: Link
The Workbench Book is a good read as well as his Handplane Essentials.

Think I'll borrow Schwarz's Workbench Book at the first of the month, see if I need to own a copy. Thanks.

I've read most of Schwarz's book, and while full of great info, I don't feel the need to own it. I bought a set of Felo screwdrivers and have about $30 left to spend. I'm pretty happy with my planes, so looking for other ideas. Incra t-square? Other ideas? Obviously $30 isn't a ceiling, but I'd like to stay relatively close to it.

Do you have any engineers squares?

I have the 6" version of the Incra T-rule. I do like it.

This square looks pretty cool too:

I was considering some squares, but it seems like it's a crapshoot if they're actually square. Doesn't matter who makes it or how much they are, mixed reviews on almost all of them. I had considered a set from Peachtree with removable bases...guess that way if they aren't truly square I could take them back myself.

I like the Crown rosewood try squares, but same thing there too. Incra has the most positives.

Edit - went with this: http://www.amazon.com/Wood-Good-170-...eywords=mallet

I've got a set of Groz squares I got from Woodcraft a while back and an 8". I picked up a 12" from some woodworking place. The big one is not very good. As far as I can tell the rest are pretty darn square. They might not be starrett machine quality tolerances, but they are way more then adequate for wood.
