Never Thought I Would Buy One

I first saw this tool on the infomercials, and thought to myself what won't they think of next. I figured someone may use it once or twice just for the novelty. So, one day, I was in Walgreens, and decided to get one for my wife.

When she saw it, she said the same thing, like who in their right mind would buy this. Well, now we wouldn't be without one. She uses it for hard to reach stuff on shelves. I bought another one for the shop. Sure beats stretching or bending.

I have a heavier-duty one that I picked up at Lowe's or HD just before my back surgery eight years ago. On a bet, I picked up a dime from a tile floor with it. It comes in handy all the time, especially since I don't bend over so well any more.

Wouldn't be without it.

you get when reaching or bending over for something! But then again it does exercise the fingers/hands. And it helps this old broken down back of mine. Why did it take you so long to buy one?!

Actually I was after some hubby points. Once I used it I found all kinds of uses for it. We have a long row of palm trees along the back fence, and the branches that just fall are all over the place among low growth branches. This thing is perfect for reaching in and dragging them out.

I also use it to pick up all the tennis balls the dogs leave in the yard. But, retrieving off a high shelf makes it worth while. I tried a 5 lb bag of sugar, and if you're smooth it works great.

Hmmm....LOML has been wanting me to make the canned goods shelf above the basement stairwell slide toward her. I WAS thinking heavy drawer glides or sliding dovetails. Now, i'm thinking $8.99 plus shipping and handling!!

I just bought the folding one through Amazon. I pay for Prime so it was $8.10 with free shipping [if you have Prime].

I'm a little over 6'2" and LOML is a little over 5'. As a result we often disagree about what should be placed on the high shelves. I think you have given me a solution.

$8.99!!!! You can find them all over the place around here for about $3. I use the one we have for getting at clothes that have fallen between the washer and dryer.

The weak point is the cup where the screw goes in. The wife has had several of them and all broke at that same place.

I have about 6 cheap ones from a dollar store around the house and one from Harbor Freight of the same design. Great for twigs after cutting down a tree and other yard clean up. Retrieves the TV remote after it falls behind the couch too.

Interesting tool and certainly worth a look. I've seen them but for whatever reason never really considered it. I do have a couple of those 24" pick-ups (a magnetic and a spring-prong) which certainly come in handy for those things you drop down behind the bench or similar places.

This bigger pick-up would certainly enhance that ability.

I liked the first review on the Harbor Freight product... the guy uses it for picking up "rattle snakes"! I try not to ever get within a few yards, but I thought it interesting... sort of anyway !
