    Oneida Dust Deputy

I may write a longer reveiw later, but I just wanted to post a quick note on the Oneida Dust Deputy. I bought the DIY kit from Woodcraft. It was very easy to put together on a HD 5 gallon bucket (I did buy a lid and bolts, I had everything else).

I was going to make a Thein baffle, but didn't want to spend the time. I know the baffle's don't take that much time, but my WW time is very limited. This $40 was WELL spent. This thing works exactly as advertised. It is tall and a little clumsy, but I have a rolling cabinet that holds the Shop Vac and DD really well, so that's a non-issue for me.

It's fun watching the dust swirl in the cyclone and then look into the vac and see it almost completely empty with a clean filter.

The HD lids are awesome and seal REALLY well.

I agree. I used an old paint bucket (5 gallon) with mine. I used 4 pieces of 2.5 inch rigid wand to support a plywood platform for the bucket/dust deputy. Ugly but works fine. It even catches most of the dust from sanding. I have a hepa filter in my Rigid shop vacumn that used to plug up very quickly. I haven't cleaned it once since putting on the dust deputy.

Brands may vary, but I have found if you can get 5 gallon pickle buckets w/lids from restaurants (some charge a couple bucks around here), their lids tend to be thicker, and the insides of the bucket, slicker, then the borg branded buckets. I have a couple from various things (evaporust projects) and gave my dad one, as it seems comparable to the ones that came with my Dust Deputy (bought when they introduced the plastic model).
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
