looking forward to it, bruce. also thought i'd include this link to a very informative thread on the ridgid website regarding blade alignment in cabinet mounted trunion saws:

    https://www.ridgidforum.com/forum/t25836/

apparently, in addition to the regular 90* blade alignment, cabinet mounted trunion saws can have bevel rip alignment issues. the referenced thread is an almost scholarly work on how to calcualte the amount of adjustment a saw might need to accurately perform 45* bevel rips and how to execute any needed adjustments. it's relatively easy to follow and could be something to check to avoid finding out about a misalignment issue before it makes itself evident during use. i used the methodolgy on my contractor saw and it worked quite well, although table mounted trunions make this alignment issue less of a concern on contractor saws (with their table mounted trunions). not saying your saw needs an adjustment for this, just passing along an interesting thread regarding saws like that nice, new 35990g.

      Toolguy,
Thanks for the info, I had to read it 3 times to realize I didn't understand a blessed thing.
I'm going to drop this link on Loring, he knows everything and then maybe he'll be able to explain it to me.
I'm slowly getting used to the new saw, especially the Incra sliding table, its kinda of nifty. And boy is it quiet.
I'm not overjoyed about the fence, I'm going to look it to see if they make a better one, or at the least a micro positioner. That's about the only thing I miss about the BT.

If I can get Loring to make me understand the bevel thing, I'll let you know.

if you need any help with it, let me know. when the poster first presented it, there were a lot of laudatory posts to the thread. when i reviewed it ( my handle on that forum is finer9998) i noticed a few inconsistencies. turns out the original paper, widely lauded, was an earlier version with some errors that was inadvertently included by the OP. it is now corrected. i used the methodology to measure the adjustment for my contractor saw and found it to be almost insignificant (as the trunnions mount to the underside of the saw table). saws that are more cabinet-like, such as your SC with cabinet mounted trunnions, are more susceptible to the need for this type of adjustment. a descent dial gauge attached to a fence on your miter gauge will make it relatively easy.

BTW, figured out that camera yet? some pics would be nice so we can all vicariously enjoy your new toy.
