Do you ever get to a Woodcraft store? They sell them, FastCap Flatback.

Pappy, you might want to check again. I ordered last night and shipping was just a buck. They're running a special—$1 shipping on any ground order.

Oh, really? Seems odd you should say that. When I posted about my FastCap back in 2007, you thought these features were ridiculous. In fact you said you had "one of those near death laughs that makes your face hurt, reading about tapes with pencil sharpeners and note pads."

Guess you've had a change of heart. Or maybe it has something to do with the change of poster.

Thanks for taking the time to look that up. I had forgotten all about that. I guess my stage in life now I'd want it also to have a cell phone, AM/FM radio, flash light, level, can opener, and a Swiss Army knife.

So, I guess I had a change of heart. Couldn't possibly be the poster...you're one of my favorites.

Yeah, i got the $1.00 shipping last night too. Along with a rafter square for $4.25, and a few books. The shipping did say "Today Only" (Sunday)--guess they meant it.

It still shows the cheap shipping on their home page.

                    Quick delivery

I placed my order Sunday night and the UPS man was just here. Not bad for a buck in shipping.

It took mine 5 days to get here! I just placed a second order last night (Monday) and hopefully it will get here a "little" faster.

Same here. I like that. It took HF more than two days to put a digital caliper in a box, another 7 days for FedEx to get it to our post office for 1 day delivery--and that was 3 days earlier than expected.

Mr. McFeely gets a good service award from me.

Great tape measure by the way!!

Well, The FlatBack is not for measuring where the picture goes on the wall - without help to hold one end! But it sure helps the precision marking of layouts on the worktable - enough that I already think of which tape for which job.

Before the FlatBack, I would not have thought that there would be that much difference, and to some it might not be worth it. But to me, it is somewhat like distinguishing the difference between a drill driver and an impact driver. Not as much, but it sure is nice to be able to make precise marks as the FlatBack allows - because it is flat. To me, I have always relished making precision markings - as much as possible.

That's my favorite tape measure as well. The pencil sharpener is definitely a nice add on. Both Rockler and Woodcraft carry them if there's a store near you.

But overall I still prefer to use my pinnacle T-squares.
