I know its been beat to death

You may or may not all very well know that our current Govco has once again treaded into our lives as woodworkers with their recent decision making process regarding tablesaws. If you would like myself like to personally make a comment to them beforwe they ineveitably weigh in on how the future of woodworking goes you may do so at this link. I would advise you go thru the entire link and read all available info prior to making your comment to them. Thanks,Tommyt http://www.regulations.gov/#!submitC...2011-0074-0001

Why does it seem like it's a foregone conclusion when I read this? It just seems like the SS system is going to be mandated, which their statements that the updated guards are no good because people can remove them.

If you need to buy a $100 saw, get it now! Any direct-drive saw for that matter. Glad my brother just picked up his DeWalt benchtop site already. And I gotta say, the updated guard is easy to use and I can reinstall it quickly if I ever do need to remove it.

Thread closed! Now, for my explaination. This subject is political in nature, in fact it is a request for political action. However we as members may feel about any political subject the rules are there to keep the peace. Had this been posted by Tommy as a current event or newsworthy item, which btw it certainly is and that also was his intent then it would have been fine as long as it did not start a political discussion. So this places us, the watchguards of the forum in a tough spot. Do we delete the thread, do we edit Tommy's OP, do we close it? I know What Tommy's intent was because I asked him. I was hesitant to "approve" this thread, close and comment because my intent is not to make folks feel bad or look bad. A different Moderator made this thread invisible due to it being out of bounds. I think this is an extremly important news item so it really does need to be mentioned. however since it is of a political nature this is not the place to discuss it.

One other post was flagged by a moderator and I am going to also let that stand, but only because I am locking this thread. We as the Staff are only trying to enforce the rules Sam put in place. We are also members, woodworkers, and regular guys. We dislike closing threads. If this forum is to survive we need you members to feel welcome and submit posts and start new threads. Plus hopefully a good number will also donate money to keep the doors open. Once again please avoid politics and we all will be better for it.
