i was looking at a 14" BS (119.224010) and wondered who manufactured it for sears. sears manufacturer index @ vintagemachinery.org indicates frigidaire. i don;t think frigidaire makes power tools. anyone have a better source?

vintagemachinery is usually a pretty good source. However, other sites are saying Rikon does manufacture that saw. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be an "authoritative" answer available.
Many companies have been bought and sold, and different divisions manufacturer a range of products. It's entirely possible that Frigidaire is the manufacturer, given their history.--------------------------------------------------

I think it's made by Richen Enterprises, who owns Rikon.Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

I think Rikon look alike is a better description. It will have been made to Sears specs which are probably not up to the Rikon.Comment

actually, the appeal of the subject c-man over the rikon are the CI wheels(the rikon appears to have ast aluminum wheels) and the price. other than that, the two saws appear to be identical, except for the locking mechanism of the fences. it's just a little frustrating not being able to pull back the curtain and find out who manufactures this saw for, apparently, both sears and rikon.there's a solution to every problem.......you just have to be willing to find it.Comment

hardly. rikon, and most of the larger craftsman, tools usually work well and aren't as overpriced as jet and powermatic. and rikon CS is much better than WMH Tool, not that WMH is much of a standard against which to measure anything. (although your reply was a good one
)
