Review of the Bosch 1617EVS Router. ... A nice touch, maple knobs, placed low for maximum stability. Long, very flexible cord. Powerful and QUIET motor. ...

Milwaukee. I like the one handed grip and soft start. Large nuts on the collet and that collet is deep! Easy height adjustment and the soft start, did I mention that? is really a nice feature.

Second choice, Linksys, it, like the Milwaukee hasn't given me any trouble.

ASUS, but with TomatoUSB firmware. If we're talking enterprise level though, definitely not Cisco. Too many bugs/limitations to work around.

I still need to add more woodworking routers, but i think i'm good for the moment on the network routers.

Bosch 1617, with real maple wood handles, no less. I have 2 of them, what more could you want?

I had to vote Bosch because my hand held work horse is the 1617EVSPK. That done, for light trim work, my prefered go to is an old Rockwell model 100. The Hitachi M12V sits in the router station with on older Craftsman hanging off the BT.

I voted Porter Cable because of a general feel good when using them - they seem to be better designed for the user, with somebody putting thought on things like '...when the user is holding this in a right hand, s/he should be able to reach with the left to ...' and so on for the various features. They even seem better 'balanced' in the hand. And I have tried both heavy routers and trim just to try this out.

Herb...he said "desert island"...not deserted. What's a desert island anyway?

C'mon, its just a fun poll.
Yep...that's pretty specific. It is a fun poll. The degree of specificity didn't have to go to that extreme. Choices like routers between 1.5 HP and 2.5 HP, with a fixed base, would be specific enough.

Maybe if the poll was worded more specifically.

I only have the Hitachi M12V I bought several years ago. Still works, abit heavy for free hand, but very powerful.
