    band saw wheel balancing tip

this may be old hat, but this woodsmith shop tip seemed to be a better alternative than drilling BS wheels:

Great idea! I'm going to balance my wheels for the first time and was looking for a reasonable and sensible approach. Going to the shop to give it a try.

A little unsure about balancing the bottom wheel. Do I take the belt off the drive to balance the bottom wheel?

Haven't ever balanced bandsaw wheels, but this sounds logical.

When balancing my wheels I used epoxy and some metal weights, has worked okay so far.

yes. the wheels need to spin freely so they can come to rest with the heaviest point down.

Thanks Tool Guy, I'll get to it in the am. BTW, the top wheel was fine but the bottom did seem problematic but I'll know for sure tomorrow.

Balanced the bottom wheel. Put on a new blade. Works like it's brand new again. Thanks guys.
