Yes, Makita made those. I saw one in Japan in the early '90s. It was made for the US market and a group of US volunteers brought it over to help in constructing a church here. They also had the BT3000. The Makita seemed a little heavier duty to me at the time. I remember being impressed by the Makita in that way but could never find one. IIRC, the Makita had a different and more solid base (cast aluminum) or a heavier cast aluminum top - versus the steel plate sides for the Ryobi and a three part table. I looked for one for possible purchase but never found one, either in Japan or the US.
That was before internet commerce, and by the time Makita, Ryobi, and tool companies and stores made it into internet commerce, the Makita production had already been stopped ('92 - '93 I think.)Last edited by leehljp; 07-11-2011, 12:32 PM.Hank Lee
