One that has been broken in half. Hard to tell but it looks like it might be a #3 or #4 size.

"Vintage"? I think the word he wanted is "garbage."

I don't think is was broke, more likely modified to get into inside corners. Not sure how well it would work, but all the "breaks" are just too clean.

If at first you don't succeed, deny you were trying in the first place.

That's a real good possibility. Not a good picture of the right side, but could have been modified to do rabbets.

It's probably a later type No. 4 that got dropped, maybe a No. 3. The tote extends behind the sole and there is a second screw on the tote.

I seriously doubt it was intentionally modified. The breaks are ragged and not uniform. Couldn't use it as a chisel plane very well since a portion of the casting extends in front of the iron. It wouldn't do rabbets very well since the iron doesn't extend all the way to the other side of the casting. Some more grinding and a wider iron might turn it into something useful.

It's a broken, rusty, POS right now.

Larry hit it. It was either a 3 or 4. #5 and up the bed extends beyond the tote.

Whether it was modified intentionally or because it broke, it is now good for parts only. I'm not sure if the seller pulled the ad or it ran its course but, seeing the seller has a 99.6% feedback rating and no other tools listed, I doubt he/she knew it wasn't made that way.
