Has anyone had any issues with the Zip Slot Mortise Mill? I just mounted mine to a 2x6 and tested it out but the drill bit seems too large for the guide bushing. The bit makes it in about 1 to 1.5 inches then gets stuck. I tried spraying some dry lubricant in the bushing and on the bit and was able to get the bit in the bushing but could not remove it. I had to use a hammer and bolt to push it completely thought to get it out of the bushing. I then took one of my 3/8 bits and tested it in the bushing and it slid in the bushing with no issues. I have contacted Jessem and waiting their response.

Mine was snug as well. I chucked mine into a drill and took an emery cloth to it. After that it went in ok but was still a bit snug to get out. After using it a bit however it fits perfectly. I tried emailing Jessem but they never did get back to me. I was going to call but since it's working now I didn't bother. Makes me think about buying anymore of their products however.I reject your reality and substitute my own. -
Mine fit perfectly, however when I was researching it several people complained about the bit being too tight. The solution seems to be to use emery cloth on the bit. Once you get it in and running for a few seconds I suspect the problem completely dissappears.
I was pleased with how easy it was to make a good mortise. I haven't decided whether the correct thing to do after is is cut is to square the mortise, or to round the tennon. Either way, it works well. The manual advocates using floating tennons, but I haven't been able to bring myself to doing that corruption of SOP just yet.Comment
