Dewalt 744 vs Bosch 4100 Compact Table Saws

Anyone have pro/cons between these two?

I have seen and played with both at a Lowes. I like them both, with a bit of a nod to the Bosch in almost every feature except size. (Size is extremely important to me for my proposed Laundry-Room-Shop) The 744 has the cool feature of the Articulating fence system, while the Bosch has the no-tool guard system with riving knife. Both have Soft-Start. Comments? User thoughts? Other answers?

I can't speak for either one of those models but I do have the DW746 and it is an awesome saw, I also have several Bosch power tools and they are awesome as well. I don't think that you could go wrong with either brand.

I think the 746 is a waaay different saw. Both of these units I am asking about are compact, "job-site" table saws specifically designed for the carpenter to take on a construction job. Both are quite small, but the tables expand in width in clever ways, and both are available with Very Good folding bases. Some PIX are attached, here are the links:

My usage is not for job-site applications, rather. I need a very good TS for EXTREMELY small potential shop space. I think my total available space for proposed shop is 15' x 6' -- I will measure and update this post.

I've used the bosch quite a bit and it's a great contractor saw. The fence has a good locking mechanism and stays in adjustment after being banged around. The base works great also, it's very easy to set up or roll around.

I wasn't suggesting that you get a DW746 only that by owning both DW and Bosch tools I feel that both DW and Bosch put out quality tools. I think that either one you are looking at would make a very good saw. I was considering the Bosch when I fell into a deal on the DW that I couldn't pass up.

            sounds like a close call!!

Thanks guys for your input. It seems like these two are really closely comparable. I like the Bosch, but if they are really very similar, I would have to go with the smaller because of space issues -- my space is 11'4" x 5'2".

Unless I go with hand planes.

I can't speak for the DeWalt but I'm sure it is an excellent saw. I do own the Bosch & I am a contractor so I not only use it in the shop but also on the jobsite. It is extremely portable & easy for one person to load in the bed of a pickup by yourself, not that you might be doing that. Where it might be of benefit is that in a 15x6 foot shop, you might find it difficult to utilize a table saw inside & you might need to take it outside to use for longer crosscuts. The DeWalt doesn't look as easy to move although I could be wrong.
