    sonicrafter blades

I purchased a sonicrafter not knowing that a discussion took place a while back. I only used the tool twice, trying to cut a slice of 2x4 to to even the wall before drywall. It was such a dissapointment- I tried the blades that came with the tool rw9122 universal end cut and the Rw9120 half round blade. I tried every way to cut the wood and it was not doing the job.
In their comercial they show the tool cutting nails and driving nails with the handle- Is like people need an expensise tool to used it as a hammer.

The instructions doesn't mention other blades available or their purpose. I search the web trying to find someone cuting wood to no avail.

Has anyone tried the after market blades to cut wood or molding?

Are you sure the tool is working correctly and you have the blade mounted correctly? I used the half-moon blade that came with my HF clone and cut thru 3/4 inch ply with no trouble. I also used the end-cut blade to cut moulding a number of times, also, with no trouble.

      sonicrafter

I don't know if the sonicrafter is running lke is suppose to. I bought it at tool king, so I probably would hav to send it back.

My first try was the moon- withing a few minutes the screw came loose, so I try to tighten it, the blade had come off the track and it crack. I tried the end cut blade ( Rw9120) and made sure everything was right.

The blade entered the wood and was trying to cut it, but it was taking so long to advance and the tool was getting hot. I tried different angles, it cut some of the wood and I used the chissel to get the rest of the wood out.

Like I said this is my second try at cutting wood, I have not use the sanding tools. I bought it to fix the hard wood floor in my daughter's house- I have to cut it in several places to fix broken boards, since it had carpet for many years.
I don't know if I should get a HF blade and see how it works, or order one of the blade sets by diamond Co.

One thing to note on these tools is the teeth on the blades are very small and need to be cleared of sawdust often, if not they will over heat rather fast and then when the temper is gone the teeth will just ware away.

Samuel, the HF model comes with two washers, one flat and one cup-shaped. On mine, if I use the cup-shaped washer with the blades the blade will come loose. I'm not sure of the setup for the Sonicrafter but use the flat washer if you have a choice. Also, the arbor on the HF model has four pins and those pins have to engage the little holes in the blade or it will come loose. If you're still having trouble, it could be the blade has lost its temper as Bill pointed out. Or the tool may not be working correctly.

HF is having a sale this Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the HF model priced at $29.99. Mine included the half-moon blade, the end cut blade, a scraper, and a sander module in the price. Might be worth checking into since so many people on this forum have had success with this tool. (However, the Sonicrafter is highly-rated.) Here is the HF sale paper: http://www.harborfreight.com/flyer_2...campaign=3410A

              snicrafter blades

Thank you guys for the information. On the video, it shows the toll cutting through the board quickly; there has to be something wrong with my tool. The HF version at $29.99 is cheaper than 3 sonicrafter blades. I should it research BT3 forum before purchasing the sonicrafter.

I'll be contacting the seller and hopefully I can get a replacement or money back.
