Can anyone give me some pointers on jointer setup? I managed to replace the motor and reset the in and outfeed tables, from what I could tell somewhat satisfactorily... at least the scrap pine board came out equal in dimensions after taking several passes. But I expected the jointer to be quieter and smoother with the new motor. It is somewhat quieter, but still a little too noisy for a new motor. With no belt on, it is quiet and smooth, with belt....... I tried to align the pulleys, but what I found is that the two are slightly off alignment as checked with a torpedo level. If I correct them the belt starts to rub on the outside edge of the case! I tried to move the jointer forward on the base via its slotted holes and I maxed them out trying to move the belt away from the edge of the case. I also moved the pulleys on the shafts to get better aligned. Are their any tips anyone can share? And yes, I plan on getting a twist belt as soon as I can. The belt does seem to get hot fairly quick, but I am guessing that spinning at 3k rpm would do that. Thanks all.
