    grizzly G0513 table insert....

i have a grizzly G0513 band saw and i am looking for part P0513127 TABLE INSERT. when i add it to my cart at the grizzly site, my cart stays empty.

where can i get one or how do i make my own? after i get a circle, how do i cut the line into it where the blade goes and what are the specs of that cut. does it have to be a certain width.....

    thanks!

You should probably just call their order line and talk to someone. They have good phone support.

I have that saw but have not made my own insert. is this for a zctp? I'd cut the slot first and then make it round. I'd imagine the slot only has to be as wide as the blade's thickness, right?

You'd probably want to make it a bit thicker than the blade, as shavings need to be carried below the table for collection...

sorry, what is zctp? i will call the them monday and see what i can find.

but cutting my own may not be a bad idea.

thanks UC, if i cut one, i will just go a bit wider on both sides, to allow for what you said.

You can measure but likely a 2 1/2" standard insert as most bandsaws if that saw was cloned off the Delta. Jet's and there clones may have a slight variation but most 14" BS's are basically the same so a 4 pk. from about any WW'ing supply will likely fit.

As for cutting the hole.. I tension my blade so it will sit where it should be when set up to cut.. place the new insert on the table behind it.. place a straight edge on the blade on one side then draw a line with a fine point magic marker to register the blade path. Determine how deep the cut needs to be and then drill a 3/16' hole at that point. Take it to the BS and cut to each side of the drilled hole. Not rocket science and doesn't have to be perfect as long as there is some clearance on each side IMO.

          Good luck...

            thanks sarge.

but this is a 17" tall bandsaw. its not the small 12" or 14" band saw...... but i will loot into this too.

My 18" Steel City takes the same insert as my 14" Jet. I would venture to say the 17" Grizzly is 2 1/2" also as most BS's. The center thickness is 3/16".. 3/32" at the edge.. with the big difference being the size of the rabbet.. The Delta clones use a 1/8" rabbet with the Jet clones using a 3/8". Some of the larger Euro BS's use larger and a few even are square or rectangular but about everything 20" and under uses a 2 1/2" insert Omar.

              Good luck...

sarge, the opening is 2.75" in diameter. the dept at the ends is like between 5/32" and 3/16".
