Last year I decided to move to a PM66 from our much loved BT31xx and have really enjoyed the increased capacity in terms of space (table size, etc.) However, the "little" BT was the clear winner in dust control, at least so far. I'm just now beginning to address dust collection in the "cabinet" and would like to hear from any others who have gotten these older beasts to perform as well as the new (and smaller) cousins.

I feel your pain. My BT3k motor blew in the middle of a project. (Xmas gift for the wife, no less) I was ripping some very thick, very long, very dense white oak and overloaded the motor. My own fault.
I found a new PM contractor saw for $400 out the door and jumped on it. Now I can rip anything, any time without worry. Except for the dust. That is a real problem now.
I really miss the exhaust port on the back of the BT. And the precision that I got with the BT. I was making glass smooth cuts that seemed more accurate than a milling machine.
I used to be able to simply hook up my shop vac (dust collector now), and not worry about any mess at all. The enclosed housing was one of the best features on that saw. (RIP) But I don't miss "chasing" the saw anymore on aggrssive cuts.
