    Compressor oil . . . and stuff

Well, guys, I'm in the last throes of getting a 20' container loaded with my Hardieplank and lumber for the final remodeling job of my life (this life, anyway). I'll be heading back to Portland next Tuesday for the final loading. On my trip there a couple of weeks ago I bought a HF flooring nailer and an compressor on-sale for $99.00, but it's an oiled type and after my return to Japan I began wondering: what kind of compressor oil to use? I found some compressor oil here in Japan that says ISO 68 viscocity. Does that sound right? I haven't found anything authoritative on the web.

I think your compressor takes a 30w (SAE), which would be ISO 100.

First thing I would do, is if you know your model number, download the manual. For decades, compressors have run on 30 weight, non detergent (straight, 30) oil.
Compressor oil, itself (at least on the higher end compressors) tends to be synthetic.

Over the last few years, some compressors, have been listing detergent weight, Mobile 1 as acceptable (Mobile 1, 10w-30 I believe was the last one I read).

Once you have that, you should be able to crossreference the standards listed on the bottles.

EDIT: Going by one chart I found online, ISO 68 is SAE 30 and ISO 100 is SAE 40.

She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
