beautifully done. just simply beautifully done! BTW, what type of conveyor belt are you using. the one in the photo does not look like the OEM that's currently on mine. thanks.

This is an "Oz" machine - I believe a badged Ryobi.

      Re your PM

      - standard OEM belt
      - yes drilled-tapped
      - 1/4-20 studded knobs into t-nuts

      Some more pics...

thanks for the info. is your drum sander still available in australia? it was sold and then discontinued a few years back by steel city tools, and sold and discontinued by ryobi inthe late 90s(?):

i wonder who actually manufactures this unit?

              Here's another version http://www.accuramachinetools.com/ac...-sander-w.html

The same company also has a replacement belt http://www.accuramachinetools.com/re...c-1632-sa.html

From the looks of the unit that you bought, you shouldn't need it though. I think the sandpaper type used on the Performax units are more likely to need replacement.

I think I would probably consider modifying the dust port to 4" (like the one sold on woodnet) for better dust collection, assuming that you have a 4" dust collector. (It looks like he used part of a plastic blast gate for the flange.)

toolhound..thanks for the links. it is somewhat reassuring to know that the machine is still being manufactured by someone, even if it is not currently being marketed by either ryobi or steel city.

still wondering who the actual manufacturer is.

Actual manufacturer is most likely a Chinese factory that we've never heard of. There may actually be several manufacturers producing similar machines. Here is one produced by Burt Group Co., Ltd. that has a similar look (found online with a quick search): http://bgcl01.en.china.cn/selling-le...ITH-STAND.html

I also noticed that Laguna Tools is also selling a version of this sander.

                      sand paper rolls

just a parting question on this thread....for those who have a similar unit, where do you source the sand paper rolls? i think those would be more reasonable than precut material. any reliable references would be appreciated.
