    Bosch Miter saw problem?

    Hi,

I have a 12" Bosch Miter saw that has stopped working correctly. When I push the start button on the handle the blade starts revving up like normal and when I lower the blade to cut the workpiece the blade cuts a little bit through the wood but then stops dead. Tried it with everything 3/4" oak to 3/4" pine still same problem.

    Any thoughts? Is it toast?

    Thanks,

    DJ

Ae you saying that the motor stops working or the blade stops moving? Alternatively, is the blade still moving but not cutting?
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Is this one of the belt driven models?
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Unless something has gone funky with the dates in the forum you have been waiting for 6 years. You win the "patience of a saint" Award, hands down!

If you really still have this saw and are wondering what to do with it I think we still need answers to what Herb and Randall asked. They were trying to figure out if the motor still ran to see if it is a stuck motor (poss brushes) or a drive issue e.g. the belt slipping.

Could even be a loose arbor nut issue.

Six years does seems a long time to wait and possibly not be using the saw.

Does the motor have replaceable brushes? Worn brushes are a possibility. (Google "replace miter saw brushes") If that's the problem, I'd take the old ones to Ace Hardware (to get the right size). You can probably get the pair for under $20.
