    Bosch 3915 SCMS

I recently picked up a Bosch 3915 saw. It does not have a work hold down clamp. I see they are available through various outlets but am wondering if I can substitute and save some money. The clamp called for is a Bosch 25610910841, priced at ~$35-40. I have also seen, for other models, Bosch BB1200, MS1226, and BB1206 clamps at~ $20-25. Will any of these work with my Bosch 3915? Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Al

If it's the same hold down clamp for the 4410L then it's not worth using. I don't use any hold down clamp with mine, just make sure the work piece is well supported.

        Tom,
Thanks for the reply. The 3915 is a 10" SCMS (sliding compound miter saw). I believe the 4410L uses the MS1226 clamp. I use a workpiece hold down clamp to hold a stop block in place when cutting multiple pieces of uniform length. Why do you find it not worth using?

It doesn't stay in any preset adjustment, meaning each and every time you want to use the clamp you have to fiddle with it even when making repeated cuts.

You are correct, it does use the MS1226 clamp.

I went ahead and ordered the MS1226 hold down clamp off of Amazon for $22.30 and kept my fingers crossed, since it wasn't recommended for my saw (Bosch 3915). Well it fits and works just fine! It has perhaps a longer reach than needed, but since there are two clamp holder ports (threaded for lock screws), on either side of the blade, I have all the adjustment I need. I insert the clamp, rotate it over the work and lock it in place at the desired height, then use the quick lock lever to hold the work in place.... very nice. It has a large rubber cover on the adjustable screw to avoid damaging the work surface.

A decent buy and very useful.
