Found a Ryobi Drum Sander wds 1600

Found a wds 1600 on craigslist locally for $375. Ad says that he never used it very much, so I'm sure it's a fine machine, an actual examination is in order of course.

But for a tool that's been out of production for over 9 years it would pretty much be a throw away if something happened to it and I wasn't able to get a part for it, right?

If that's the case $375 seems kind of high to me. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

Some parts are still available. You'd be surprised. Last time I checked, m-and-d.com had some stuff. Here is a link to parts availability:

I have one, I paid $350 (I think) which is on the high side of what they go for. I've seen 'em go for $200 and even less.

But I've loved mine, and it has been worth every penny of $350. If it was in good shape, I wouldn't hesitate.

After all, a used Performax typically goes for more than $350, and there is little difference in the machines (the Performax has a 4" dust port vs. 2.5 for the WDS1600, but the 2.5 works great w/ my Shop Vac).

I'd offer the guy $250 in GREEN, and see what he says.

Ok, think I'll offer him something and see what he has to say. Thanks for the link reassuring for me to know that there are parts still available.

I checked some other sites and there are lots of other parts available, too. Ryobi's parts site stocks many of the parts, as well.

Make sure you unplug it before you do that.

My sander doesn't have to be plugged-in to be turned-on.
