    Grizzly Tools

Just wondering if anyone has any of their tools and if so what are your opinions on them.

    Thanks

As with most brands, it's hard to accurately paint all their tools with one positive or negative description. In general, Grizzly has some very well respected tools that typically represent excellent value, but each major tool deserves a little comparative research. I find that most of their bigger machinery is better quality than their cheaper hand and bench tools. TS, jointer, DP, DC, BS, and stationary planer are usually good bets. I'd skip their portable benchtop planer, because portables from DeWalt, Ridgid, Makita, and Delta often offer better value with more features. I've gotten very good service from their 6" 1182 jointer and 1029 DC unit...I also have a Shop Fox W1677 (associated with Grizzly and same as the G1023SL cabinet saw), and it's been excellent.

The owner is a woodworker and frequent poster on some of these forums, and Grizzly's customer service is typically excellent.

+1 on Scott's comments. I think it would be fair to say that as a brand, Grizzly is quite good overall, but as with any other brand you do need to consider each model individually and compare it closely to its competition.

A lot of us here own the G0555 14" band saw, myself included. There are arguably better band saws out there but I'm delighted with mine, especially considering what it cost (about 60% of virtually identical models from Delta, JET, etc). I'd like to have an 18" or 20" band saw someday, and I will definitely consider a Grizzly based on my experience with the G0555.

About three years ago, Fine Woodworking Magazine compared eleven 8" jointers costing up to $1400. The Grizzly G0500 ($875) was named Best Overall, beating out much more expensive machines from Delta, General, JET, and Powermatic. When I'm ready to step up from my current 6" jointer, I will, again, be looking hard at a Grizzly.

I have the 6" helical blade G0452Z. I agree with the other comments. You have to do your research and comparisons. Overall, Grizzly is good and rated pretty well. But, like any manufacturer they have outstanding models and run-of-the-mill models of each machine and they have good, better and best grades for want of a better description. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them. just make sure you do your research. FOR THE PRICE, they are hard to beat.

I have their "Baby Drum Sander" and I couldn't be happier with it.

I have a 16 inch 2hp Lathe from them. Other than the construction of one part that wears a bit faster than I'd like it's a great lathe for the money. Customer Service is top notch too.

+1 on all the Grizz comments. I have the 14" bandsaw and 12 speed floor drill press. Couldn't be happier with them but I do also agree that small power tools are left to the other fellows; Delta, Roybi etc. One of the best features for Grizz is their customer service..absolutely tops. Never a question asked about a return or something not working right. Lots of small items they don't even want you to bother sending it back!

I have the G0555 the Ultimate 14" Bandsaw and G0452 6" Jointer and I am very happy with them. The band saw in my opinion is a great saw; it has done everything I have asked of it. I did upgrade to the Timberwolves blade. The jointer is good, I just wish I could have afforded and had the space for a larger unit. But I would have to saw that for bang for your buck these two tools and very good.
