      Update..
I found that Lee Valley is now selling once again - Carey Template Hinge Mortising System. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link - this is in no way endorsing or advertising for Lee Valley

A simple way to make a jig like Pappy did is to use your brad nailer to fasten pieces of scrap tight against the hinge you will use. In other words, you lay the hinge on the jig and surround it with scrap pieces you tack in place. This avoids the need to cut the openings in the hinge real precisely. Or you could use this "trick" to make one jig to then make your real jig. With a top mounted bearing, the opening is the same size as the hinge so it doesn't take a lot of measuring but I have found it a little tricky to cut 2 or 3 openings exactly the size I wanted them in the scrap piece that is the "jig". This way of doing it is also consistent with using a piece of 1/4 scrap for the body of the jig and just tacking on something thicker where the hinges will be. You can use the tacked on pieces and your router to cut the opening in the 1/4 piece.

Getting back to you kinda late, but yes Porter Cable does make a router jig for the lockset striker plate. They are sold at various big box stores for about $25. I have one and it works fine for regular-sized strike plates. Here's a link:
