    Used Unisaw Checklist

I'm ready to move over to the Dark Side (Bt3k->Unisaw) and have been looking for a fountain of "Loda-like" wisdom on what to watch out for, to no avail. There are issues on motor HP/Phase, arbor bearings, missing components, etc. My question has anyone seen a really through list of "gotcha's" on buying a used machine of this genre? Please don't post here telling me to buy something else, I've read all those threads.

3 phase motor will be a PITA unless you are going to put it in a shop in a 'commercial' area that has 3 phase available. For <3 HP 110v is ok but 3 HP or above needs 220v. You might want to look around on www.OWWM.org for specific info on old Uni's, I have seen a lot of discussions there about them.

Agree, 3 hp single phase is "table stakes". I have 220 so that's not a issue. I'll look again at OWWM. There is a Wiki on a complete teardown which I would prefer not to do.
