    belt for my lathe

I was turning a small bowl over the past weekend. I have a Jet Knockoff mini lathe. While moving the belt to slow the lathe down, the belt broke. Where can I find a new belt from?

The only way I can describe the belt is that it has three "teeth" to it, if that makes any difference.

Does the belt have any numbers on it?

I'll have to look when I get home. I found a reference to the Jet replacement part and looked at it online:

        http://woodworking.jettools.com/Parts.aspx?part=JML-20

        23 bucks before shipping.

Then I contacted a place in teh Detroit area, and they have it for 13 bucks, with 14 bucks for shipping.

You might want to consider a link belt instead. Woodcraft carries it in 4 foot lengths and they also seem to have a one foot piece as well. You'd probably have enough for several changes on a mini.

I don't think you can use a link belt on a mini lathe, at least not if it's like a Jet - the belt is not a v-belt. It's flat with slightly raised ribs.
