Alternatives to PSA sandpaper for fences?

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions for something to use besides PSA sandpaper on fences. It doesn't stick that well, and I don't like the shedding of grit.

I was thinking stair grip, which I guess is a glorified PSA that sticks better and has better grit retention.

But I was wondering if there are any other better ideas?

I've seen some high friction tape over at Lee Valley. I haven't tried it though.

I didn't realize what it was but my son told me that the sandpaper on my Osborne miter gauge is skate board paper. That stuff never wears out with typical useage on a fence.

I once attached a temporary, MDF fence to my miter gauge with double-stick tape. When I removed the temporary fence, the tape stayed on the gauge. I left it there, and it provided an excellent non-slip surface -- although for the first couple of weeks, things almost stuck TOO well. At least three or four months elapsed before it completely lost its tackiness.

I often use the commercial non-skid stuff you can get at HD. My BIL gets rolls at Delta Air Lines as they use it on steps.. tow vehicle step-ups.. ramps.. etc. etc. It does stick better on fences than the stuff from Klingspors I use for scary sharp.

            Good luck..

I bought a strip of skateboard grip last year and have been cutting it into pieces for grips on various fences - its great stuff

Just a thought - haven't tried this - but would something like Plasti-Dip or Dip&Grip work? I believe there's even a spray-on version, but I can't recall who makes it. If it provides adequate grip, it could be put on the face of a sacrificial fence if desired.
