    HF Laser Levels

I picked up one of the rotary laser levels from HF last week to help layout the shop foundations. I discovered that the laser is kinda wimpy and on a bright sunny day is impossible to see. This may be true of all lasers, I dunno. The kit includes a set of goggles to help see the laser but it doesn't really help. I solved the problem by doing as much prep as I could and then finishing the layout at twilight. I also checked the laser for accuracy against my 4' level and it is pretty accurate. I was able to lay out all 4 corners and the ends of the middle beam in about 10 minutes.

To use them outside you need a sensor. This is true of even the most pricey lasers.
