    Hey Ed,
Home Depot in Merrillville/Hobart had a few "lithium upgrade kits" one 18v battery and charger for Ryobi for $89.00 I believe. I have an extra green ryobi drill you are more than welcome to have if you get the battery and charger. I live in Hobart, so it is not too far away.

Thanks very much for the offer, Brandon. I'll probably be getting out that way in the next couple of days. Are you sure it will work with your drill? If so, I just might take a look at it. I know Sears has a LI drill with batteries on sale now for (I think) $80.00. Don't know anything about it though.

A little birdie told me that if you can hang on, some time before Father's Day, Makita will be having a special on their Li drill. If I understood the bird talk correctly, the 18v drill will be selling for $100 at the BORG. Just keep your eyes open........

I was at Lowes over the weekend and noticed a PC 4-Piece 18-Volt NiCd Combo for $159. It had a PC1800D 18V Drill / Driver, PC186CS Circular Saw, PC1800RS Reciprocating Saw, PC1800L Flashlight and 2 batteries and charger. The CS was 6 1/2" blade. The guy in the tool dept said he has a hard time keeping this combo in stock. They also had just the drill and CS in a kit for $109, with 2 batteries. Has anyone used the PC cordless tools? And do some of the battery packs have more cells and therefore hold a longer charge than others, like in laptop batteries?

I'm with Brandon. My Ryobi 18V always had a better 'feel' to my hand than the others. So when my NiCads died the last time, I went with the Li-Ion upgrade kit and I've been happy.

Actually, I was happy Ryobi designed their Li-Ion batteries/charger to be backwards compatable, and not force me to replace a bunch of perfectly good tools.

Did you get the drill and impact set? How's the charge time?

I would agree. I recently picked up the 5 piece 18v Ryobi set on sale at HD for $99+tax. I especially like the circular saw and sawzall. When the 18V Ni-cads go south I'll replace with the Li-Ion batteries. Kind of hard to beat for $99. I think this was a local store clearing out the 18v kits as another HD had the same set still at $159.
