New Stanley planes?

Has anyone heard of a new line of Stanley planes? got any info on them?

I have a friend accross the pond that says they have a new line that is better quality than the stuff they've put out in recent years. Just wondering.

Many have remarked that there's a lot of Lee Valley/Veritas influence in the designs, especially the blocks. I agree.

The new Stanleys were supposed to be ready by the end of February, but with the economic slowdown, who knows for sure.

They'll be interesting to see when they come out, and "real" folks post some reviews. Given that they'll likely be in a lot of brick-n-mortar stores in the US could hurt Veritas. (Rereading Schwarz' comments, though, I see they won't be in the Big Box stores.)

If that shoulder plane was at all decent, at nearly half the price of the Veritas medium, I'd probably have given it a try. (Too late now! )

And, a #4 with a fixed frog and sliding mouth?...that simplifies things a lot!

I'm most in the market for a block plane right now, as the old beater Stanley (non-vintage) is a real pain to adjust. But, will I get good adjustment, a good blade, and good blade seating with a new Stanley, like I know I'd get with a Veritas? Not sure it's the best way to save $50.

I'm interested in how the compare to the woodriver planes. I have a couple of the junky current stanley line, and you can get them working, but it's a lot of work. My low angle block plane get the most use, but it's SUCH a pain to adjust. I'm in the market for better planes as well.
