    PC 18volt circular saw??

Anybody have any experience with the Porta Cable 18 volt circular saw? I saw the drill/saw combo kit in Lowe's for $109 and it sorta hung on to me.
It appears to have plenty of power, but just wondering what others thought.

It won't be used for building houses, just for those times when I need to do a little work and don't want to drag out the extension cords or there is no 120 available.

    Thanks in advance.

I have a Dewalt 18v saw. It's OK for the times I want to do some light, rough cutting. Especially when there isn't any available power. It will empty a charged nicad battery fairly quickly. If it broke, I probably wouldn't bother replacing it. I see it more as a luxury item. It's nice to have on occaision.

I have the DW and I second pelligrini's comments.

I don't have one, but expected to hear what the others are saying. I wonder if you can get a li-ion battery to fit? They might last a little longer in warm weather.

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

I borrowed my Dad's 18v ryobi (granted, it's a good deal cheaper), my hope was to use it to cut down a sheet of ply, it didn't make it. Battery was dead on the 2nd cut, sadly. I took 2 batteries though, so I made it through the 2 cuts I needed to get it into the car. I decided not to buy one given that experience.

The set comes with NiCads but will accept Li-Ion batteries.
