    How does the Joy-Jaw work?

I saw this new product in an email from Woodworkers Supply. They call it the Joy-Jaw. [OK UC make something out of that.]

I can't, for the life of me, figure out how this thing works.

I will take a guess and say that the narrow spot in the middle has enough flex and spring that when you push it against the workpiece it will spread a little and the 'teeth' will grab and hold on to it.

        bingo,
looks like itd be more trouble than its worth, holding onto two handles and making a radius seems impractical...30 bucks??? pffft !.
ill 'stick' to carpet taping smallstuff to larger scraps, actally a piece as small as the 1 in that pic i would cut on the scrollsaw ,no sweat.

          Ed,

That's Thai. Seems to have nothing to do with Joy-Jaw.

That is about all it is, a "work piece extender" so as to keep fingers farther away from the blade. A quick Irwin clamp would do about the same thing in addition to the carpet tape trick. Did Billy Mays suggest this by any chance?
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

Thanks, Steve. It's no longer a question in my mind.

It's an adaptation from a similar tool used with metal cutting bandsaws where you have to apply much more pressure to cut. the "jaw" has notches in it that hold the part, it does not flex.
