    Talking about Riving Knives ----

Well, I know we were at some point. I just wanted to say that I just put a BORK on my Grizzly 0575 left tilt contractor style saw. I know, I know -- about 20 of you are scratching your heads and saying "What's a BORK??"

Well, a BORK is a Bolt On Riving Knife that was designed by Bob Ross at Walnut AcreWoodworking.Com He Has been making these for various saws like the Grizzlys and some Jets and Craftmatics, etc. I am impressed with his little design and I feel it will work very well with my Grizzly. I had Lee's Shark Guard and riving knife with my 3100 and missed a riving knife setup on the new Grizz.

I am not affiiated with Bob in any way and just mention the product in case anyone is looking for something to take the place of an akward factory splitter system. Check out his web site if you are interested. If you don't see your saw mentioned, give him an email, he may have something that works.

+1....I put a BORK on my Shop Fox W1677 last August shortly after I got it. It works well, and Bob is a gem to deal with.
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

Bernie, what did the installation entail? Any modifications, or did it just bolt-up? I have been wanting a riving knife for my Grizzly G0478, I really miss this feature since getting rid of the BT3100.
I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.

Larry, no real modification other than removing the existing bracket that the current splitter is mounted on. Then the BORK lays on top of the arbor and is held in place with a large radiator clamp and there is an arm where the new splitter fastens onto (which is the BORK). That's it, except it does require a ZCTP with a kerf from the blade thru the splitter area. On the Grizzly its no big deal, just flip it end for end and cut your kerf.

I really like mine. As I said, I missed that from my 3100 also.
