So when I was at HF this weekend, I started to wonder whether or not the HF 18v tool batteries where the same as the Ryobi 18v+ batteries? Has anyone tried this?

I never tried their batteries. But I recently read an article on them. It said each battery is made up of a number of cells. Each cell is tested during manufacturing. The batteries with the strongest cells are typically bought by higher end places like name brand tool manufacturers. Other batteries with weaker cells are typically bought by places like HF, Big Lots, etc.
