Demo of Saw Stop with real finger

This is from the Wood Whisperer site, it is the creator of the Saw Stop using his own finger to show the saw works.

Saw this last week, pretty cool.

chopnhack, I wouldn't think so, big scary machine, probably die of a heart attack from realizing the saw stop went off! Honestly I think sawstop is a great idea, just too pricey for your average home user at this point.

I know the argument, can't put a price on safety....etc...and I agree, but realistically people are not going to pay 1000+$ for a contractor saw just because it has saw stop for their garage. When the saws get cheap enough this'll be a standard feature, and a great one. Currently a great feature for schools and the like. When my little guy gets old enough to want to use my pm2000, I might make a change.

I've seen the hot dog demo several times, I'm kind of ashamed to admit that I couldn't pass on seeing the test with a real live finger.

That guy is crazy to do that, but he's brilliant for developing the SawStop. That is definitely putting your money where your mouth is.

Do you suppose those responsible for creating air-bags and seat belts intentionally got behind the wheel.. accelarated to over 100 mph and crashed into a bridge im-buttment to prove they work? There are probably a few isolated individuals as myself that would consider that a rather stupid thing to do... no?

Not gutsy, stupid. Distribution of the video is an embarrassment to those of us who are sensitive to shop safety.

Fortunately, the saw is expensive enough so that some yahoo can't just turn on his saw and try it for himself.

              Regards, Steve
