I saw something else that may change my list today. Does anybody have experience with the rapidair system (www.rapidairproducts.com)? They sell a kit to run two drops and one manifold on their nylon flexible piping so you can have multiple hookups to compressed air. I want to leave my compressor near the garage door (helps if I need to air up car tires) but also use it for nail guns and a sprayer on the other side of the shop. I run hose across now but that is a hassle. Having a drop on the other side of the shop would be nice. I could put the second drop in the upstairs garage so I wouldn't have to move vehicles to air up tires. The kit is $140 which doesn't seem cheap but I suspect I will spend as much or more if I do the same thing with other piping by the time I put in drain valves etc..
Last year, I asked for cash, cash, and more cash. I then hit Craigslist over the next few weeks and got $1000 worth of tools for $300. I will buy new tools on occassion (Incra 1000SE Miter Gauge is awesome!) but I generally buy items second hand. It is the only way to get a really good stanley hand plane, after all
If I had to get one item brand new, I would go with a DW735 Planer. Then, it would sit in the corner for a few months until I built a cart to mount it on because it is so heavy!
