New, well a bandsaw gloat

I just returned from a week of doing family stuff. Went to the Chicago suburbs to help clean up a basement flood after Ike, 13 inches of rain in 24 hours. Then to Indiana for a nieces wedding, then home.

Installed a battery back up sump pump, helped clean up the basement and garage. Filled a small roll off dumpster, sold a bunch of scrap metal and then found this band saw in the corner of the garage. Unfortunately the table was in the basement on a bottom shelf that has seen a couple of floods this past year. It is time for the restoration process to begin.

The band saw was free; well 2200 miles of driving, three days of work installing the sump pump and cleaning the basement and garage, and one ticket on the way home.

So I am not sure this is a tool gloat after all!

12" and it takes an 80" blade

An older Craftsman saw. King-Seeley? Looks to be a great candidate for a rebuild. Nice score!!

The iron doesn't look to be pitted very much. Should clean up nice. Roller bearing guides? Well worth the effort to restore.

Yup Has a 103. code for a model number. Appears to be a 50's vintage saw. I have been spending a little time over at the OWWM site to figure out this stuff. Those folks are knowledgeable, and helpful. And if you look very long the restoring old stuff is also a slippery slope into another dimension of woodworking.
