    Bosch Colt

I bought one about 6 months ago and had never used it until yesterday. I just had to cut a couple notches in the bottom of a ply shelf and round over the edges so It didn't get a real workout but what a sweet piece of machinery to use.

Dick, I second your thoughts on the Bosch Colt. I find myself reaching for it more and more often when I need to do something.

I have had the Colt + installers kit on my wish list for a while now but I am on a strict NO NEW TOOLS regime right now.

Its really tough staying away from CL, ignoring all the Rockler coupons and bargin alerts.

I like the look of that thing with the installer's kit, too. May have to grab one next time Amazon has a deal on.

I kept looking at the live cashback deal and ebay. The best I saw was around $160 inc shipping so if you could get the 30% cashback that would make it only $112. Thats around the same price as the standard Colt at retail.

Is still cant do it until my cashflow improves.

Bought the VS about a year ago and it's now my favorite router (of 4), especially for small, quick projects. Just have the edge guide and some of Pat Warner's bases. Looked at some of the rest of the Installers kit inclusions, but felt wouldn't use them enough to justify the cost. Sure glad I bought the Colt though.

I don't have a Bosch Colt, but I will add that I use trim routers a lot and they have an amazing capacity, and can be used with one hand. I've learned not to overwork them.

I bought a VS speed rebuilt for less than $100. Works well except for the arbor lock. I filed down a 10mm wrench to use on the shaft below the chuck and it makes bit changes a lot easier. It's also a little bit of a pain to get into and out of the base because of the fine height adjustment mechanism (which I find pretty much useless).

Don't get me wrong, I like the router. I just wish they'd given me two wrenches instead of an arbor lock that doesn't work very well and skipped the fine adjustment. Others undoubtedly like at least one of these features, however. No tool is perfect. The Bosch Colt is a fine router.

Does anybody have the installer kit and can tell me wether the extra bases are of any real use? I am trying to choose wether they are worth it or not or wether to get just the basic VS with the edge guide.

I just have the VS model. When I bought it I just wanted a small fixed base hand held router. I didn't think I ever would use the extras in that kit.
